Building on recent triumphs including a second-place class finish at the 2025 SCORE Baja 500, this Ensenada-based desert racing veteran continues to demonstrate elite-level competitiveness in the world's most challenging off-road events. The 50-year-old racer has established himself as one of Mexico's most consistent performers in SCORE competition, with multiple podium finishes spanning several years.
His impressive track record includes back-to-back second-place class finishes at the legendary SCORE Baja 1000 in both 2019 and 2021, showcasing remarkable consistency in the sport's premier desert race. These achievements highlight his ability to navigate the grueling 1,000-mile course through Baja California's unforgiving terrain while maintaining competitive pace against international competition.
The 2017 SCORE Baja 1000 saw him competing in Class 10 with car number 1075, running a Romo-Chevy alongside co-drivers Hector Sarabia, Javier Montoya, Adrian Villasenor, and Sergio Villavicenio. Despite challenging conditions including heavy fog and silt that created "lights out" visibility for over 100 miles, he demonstrated the perseverance and skill that define championship-caliber desert racers.
His continued success in 2025 reinforces his status as one of SCORE's most respected competitors from Mexico's thriving desert racing community.
During the 2021 season, the top four finishers in Class 10, Freddie Willert, Hiram Duran, Ethan Hagle, and Matt Winslow have been fighting for class supremacy. From the start, all the “10-cars” dealt with rough terrain, making it more difficult after the SCORE Trophy Truck and Class 1 vehicles changed the dynamics of the course for them. Read More
The battle of the buggies for Class 10 supremacy had been between Cody Reid, Chase Warren and Hiram Duran throughout the 2019 SCORE Season. But the Baja mud wasn’t good to these vehicles, many of them reporting having brakes overheating from being coated with mud. Others had electrical problems from the wet conditions and only half of the field would finish the race. Read More
